My parents are SWEET. On Saturday I went to visit them in the evening. When, in the afternoon, I was on the phone with my dad he told me that there was a HUGE fleamarket. I was immediatly feeling sweaty and nevrous, A FLEAMARKET?! I MUST GO THERE. NOW. But no, I couldn’t. But then he assured me, that they would go and thrift for me. So they did :) And they found some lovely treasures. Check out the brooches! My favorites are the dried flowers and the dolphins. The button is quit ugly but still […]
The Oh Marie! traveling Vintage Item – on it’s way!
Thanks guys (Yvonne and Sandy) for participating. And my dad, but he wasn’t really in for getting the item at his place. The lovely vintage traveling item is going to Limburg, to Hanneke. I hope you will find a lovely spot for the sweet birdie. This was all started by Oh Marie!. Have you seen the new issue yet? It’s all about Alpine Kitsch. Super cool.
Flavourites Live 2012
After having a heavy week I could use some time off. So on friday, when Marije tweeted that she had a free ticket for Flavlive, won at Mamamarketing, I didn’t doubt. So on friday morning we went (in the pouring rain!) to flavourites. (Thanks Marije and MMMarketing!) So overwhelming! It was super busy and there was so much nice stuff. I met some lovely tweeps (Anke, Saskia, Mirjam) and was happy to see some of my favorite online shops for real. I was suprised to see Rapongi live. It’s one of my favorite shops in Amsteram. […]
Broesj on the Flow Blog!
Hooray! Yesterday Broesj had her first birthday. One year! I celebrated it by visiting Flavorites Live 2012 and putting a festive banner on the broesj-Facebook page. With some garlands. And today Broesj is featured on the blog from Flow Magazine. What a wonderful way to celebrate this birthday. I am so thankful for this first year. The people who I have met, the stories that I have heard and the brooches I have found. Here is a happy Broesj lady.
Thrifting Tuesday: Flowers and Reds
Last saturday me and my sister went to look for some treasures…. We went thrifting! Thrifting is all about finding ugly things – at first sight. Trying them on, and open your eyes. That’s how I found this blouse. I have worn it two days in a row already… Remember my thrift finding from last week? YES I found another one! So now I have two pink mugs, 2 yellow mugs and one blue. So I only have to find one blue and then I’m set. Another thrifting tip: Look everywhere. This book I found in […]
Traveling Vintage Item – The journey continues…
It has been a while since I received the traveling vintage item from Sas. It found a perfect spot on my wall, next to some other bird friends (spot the bird brooch on top?), some dried flowers and next to a photograph from my mom, a little while ago. The traveling vintage item from Oh Marie! was given to Nikki from Liefgeval at the launch from the lovely magazine. Then it went to Saskia and then it came to me. It is now time to pass the item to her next owner. To whom should I send […]
Sunday: Ikea and christmas feeling
What a lovely weekend. After a heavy workweek I was happy to stay a weekend at home and relax a little bit. Well relax… On saterday me and my lovely sis went out thrifting. We went to our favorite store and boy, it was good :) I will tell more about it on tuesday, to stick with my tuesday thrift posts. But a spoiler is never bad: After the thrifiting we did some grocery shopping, ate lovely couscous diner and watched Intouchables. Super fine saturday. So today, there was the occasional cleaning but also: IKEA. My […]
Thrift Share Tuesday
This monday I finally could go thrifting again. There is a strange thrift store 5 minutes away from my home. When I worked at home I went there almost every day. That really helped me find some beautiful stuff (and fill my house in a rapid tempo…) So now when I have time to go there it’s extra special. I was actually searching for a cabinet to put all my brooches in. Because my collection still grows I have a hard time storing and sorting them. Right now I keep them in zipper bags. It is […]
DIY: Make a rubber stamp
I use my stamp on my broesj-packages. A week ago, Hanneke and I attended the Rubber-stamp Making workshop. The workshop was a gift from me for Hanneke for her wedding. I gave her husband a passport holder ;)
Antique Memory brooches
Recently when I visited an auction I choose to bid on a brooch lot. It contained a mourning brooch. Unfortunately I did not win the brooches but I wás fascinated by the hair brooches. From the eighteenth century through the Victorian era it was fashionable to incorporate hair and portraiture into a brooch. The practice began as an expression of mourning, then expanded to keepsakes of loved ones who were living. Below you see a brooch not only with the hair inside, but the sides are also made out of hair! Above you see a sentimental triple […]
