I found the picture of Brenda’s perfectly color coordinated collection on Pinterest. Little did I know that she would be Dutch. A while later we connected via Etsy when Brenda bought a bird brooch. I’m thrilled to feature her collection.

“Most of my brooches are vintage finds from the 80’s. I think those plastic novelty brooches are fun since they often depict funny animals, fruits and flowers. I buy them to wear them, yet my favorite brooch is a modern one. Namely the wooden flower Snug.
First brooch
One of my first was a plastic swallow, found at a flea market. I was quite happy with it, and so he went immediatly on my jeans jacket. I lost him during Bospop (festival) and regretted it. Luckily I spotted a similar brooch on Marktplaats (Dutch eBay). When I received the package the lady appeared to have included another swallow, along with a note Een zwal”Because one swallow does not make asummer …”. That was so sweet!
Latest brooch in the collection
I recently received a beautiful brooch from the brand Hug a Porcupine. The brooch is in the form of an origami kitten and we found at Shoe-S (shoe s.nl) in the Urban Shopper in Eindhoven, which mainly sells beautiful leather shoes.
In addition, of course I bought a very nice brooch at Broesj. The bird is clearly vintage and has a very original shape! The combination of creamy white and gold is of course totally hip now.
On the wish list
I would still like to have a brown fox, I would really wear it. Fun while pinned at a winter outfit.

De meeste van mijn broches zijn vintage vondsten uit de jaren 80. Ik vind die plastic ‘novelty’ broches zo leuk omdat het vaak grappige dieren, fruit en bloemen zijn. Ik koop ze echt om te dragen, Toch is mijn favoriete broche een moderne, namelijk de houten bloem van Snug.
De eerste
Een van mijn eerste broches was een plastic zwaluw, gevonden op een rommelmarkt. Ik was er helemaal mee in mijn nopjes en dus ging hij op mijn jeans jasje. Ik ben hem toen verloren op Bospop (festival) en baalde daar best wel van. Gelukkig spotte ik een soortgelijke broche op Marktplaats. Toen ik het pakketje ontving bleek de dame in kwestie niet 1 maar 2 broches opgestuurd te hebben, met daarbij een briefje “Omdat 1 zwaluw nog geen zomer maakt…”. Dat vond ik zo lief!
Laatst toegevoegd
Ik heb laatst een hele mooie broche van het merk Hug a Porcupine gekregen van mijn vriend. De broche is in de vorm van een origami katje en hebben we gevonden bij Shoe-S (shoe-s.nl) in de Urban Shopper in Eindhoven, die vooral prachtige leren schoenen verkopen.
Daarnaast heb ik natuurlijk een hele leuke broche gekocht bij Broesj. De vogel is duidelijk vintage en heeft een heel originele vorm! De combinatie van roomwit en goud is natuurlijk helemaal hip nu.
welke broche staat nog op je verlanglijstje?
Ik zou nog wel graag een bruin vosje willen, die zou ik echt dragen. Leuk bij een winterse outfit.
