Thrifting Tuesday: Auction Kings

Have you even been to an auction? And no I do not mean your bidding on eBay. A real action. With a hammer and numbers to put in the sky. Most of the time actions are being held via the world wide web. But there are always a few days where you can browse around all the objects and check if you are going to make an offer. My whole family (I am not joking) loves to go to […]

Thrifting Tuesday: Special Brooch Trip

It’s always lovely to visit my hometown. A few weeks ago, my parents picked me up from the train station and we went thrifting. The amount of treasures we found was not amazing. But I did manage to find some brooches. The abstract black one was lucky enough to accompany me direct on a very special trip… And we had lunch (okay, pie ;-)) here. Isn’t this perfect? Sometimes I forget that my parents live in such a beautiful part of […]

Thrifting Tuesday: Mom’s picks

My parents are just like me. Or maybe it’s the other way around… One thing is certain: They love to go thrifting. First my dad wasn’t a big fan of rummaging through pieces of junk to find treasures. But since he has developed a growing collection of small books and he also loves the KLM Blue Delft Miniature houses he is the one that insist on visiting the flea markets. Since my mom doesn’t mind at all they go a […]

Thrifted Tuesday: Vintage Kitchen Goods

There is nothing better than going to a flea market, actually needing something and finding it! I needed an egg timer and yes, I found one! I’ve payed 4 euros for this blue beauty. It fits perfectly in my new kitchen, and matched the presto cooker cookbook like a charm. I also found a fabric covered box (not so excellent condition), a grater, tongs for ice cubes, a lemon squeezer to match my others and a centrifuge (useful […]

Thrifting Tuesday: Smitten Mitten!

Remember the christmas style oven mittens I found while thrifting some time ago? I have a bit of an disorder. Whenever I see something in thrift stores that belong to the same kind of collection I am immediately smitten. In this case I found two egg cups and egg warmers that were the same Tiroler Webkunst as the mittens. So I had to buy them. Vintage packaging is another problem. I wonder what the lid of this box […]

Discovery of Dead Stock: Vintage Office Supplies

My studiomate received a small package from her father. It included a small diary, dated back to the fifties. It was in a mint condition and never used. Her dad explained that he found it in a small store in Rotterdam, which was about to close down. The owner had to sell his shop so emptied the entire stockroom. He found some crates that had been there since the shop opened. Some of the products dated around […]

Thrifting Tuesday: Zwolle knows about vintage!

Thrifting Tuesday is a weekly post about my search for brooches and other treasures. This week it’s about Zwolle! Same old, same old: […]

Thrifting Tuesday: National Thrift Day!

The advantage of being a weekend at my parents house: 1. there is a cat 2. they have a very large tv 3. they own a bathtub 4. they have a cabinet full of snacks but the nicest: There are flea markets everywhere! My mom wrote me a hilarious, not very clear, note with some flea market tips. Friday / Word Animal Day Market 1. Started the day at the flea market for the animal shelter. Without any make-up […]

Thrifting Tuesday: Mom’s Pick

Thrifting Tuesday: Three in a row!
