Brooch Collection: Yvonne

Yvonne is one of my dear friends who I met online. Thought Twitter, or Etsy. I really cannot remember. Since then we shared our love for brooches, and cats. Today she shares her brooch collection!

The chick-in-egg

My favorite and also first brooch of my collection is the Avon chick-in-egg brooch. It’s not the nicest brooch I have and I’m certainly not wearing it because inside there is still a hint of soft perfume so it has a very rank perfume smell! This brooch belonged to my mother, one of many items she had of this brand. I don’t have many things of hers anymore so this brooch will always be special to me.

Last added to my collection.. Er yes, that would be my own porcelain brooches, I love to wear them myself as well.

Wish list

I don’t really have one particular brooch on my wish list. When I see it, I know: Ooh, I need to have that one! ;) It can be a vintage brooch, or handmade: especially illustrated ones. Although, I wouldn’t say no to an Avon porcelain cat… or a nice Lalique cicada or something, haha.

Special story

yes, that would be the story behind the yellow bird of course. Because I bought that one especially so I could wear it on my wedding day.
I spotted it on my Twitter feed and thought: that’s the one! I expected it would already have been sold so when I saw it lying there ‘in real life’ at the Broesj stand, I bought it right away (along with a pink bird I couldn’t resist of course. Sigh, I admit I have a mild Broesj addiction). I hadn’t said that I was getting married and was going to wear that brooch then so it was a double surprise. An intentional one.

Oh right, and the Sphynx cat brooch by MadeByWhite of course! It was made to resemble our Damien. You can read about it here and even more here. So funny.

 

I mainly have vintage and handmade brooches. I photographed them in small groups: vintage and badges, and handmade (the felt brooches to one side).

Ei-met-kuiken broche

Mijn favoriet en ook de eerste broche van mijn collectie is de Avon ei-met-kuiken broche. Niet de mooiste broche die ik heb en zeker niet eentje die ik draag, want er zit nog een beetje parfum-creme in en er hangt me dus toch een schrale parfumlucht aan! Deze broche is van mijn moeder geweest, ze had vroeger meer van dit merk. Ik heb niet zo heel spullen meer van haar, dus deze broche blijft bijzonder.

Nieuwste aanwinst

Het laatst toegevoegd aan mijn collectie… eh ja, dat zijn mijn eigen porseleinen broches, ik draag ze zelf ook heel graag.

Verlanglijst

Ik heb niet echt een specifieke broche op mijn verlanglijstje staan. Als ik hem zie, dan weet ik het: oew, die moet ik hebben! ;) Dat kan een vintage broche zijn, of handgemaakt: vooral geïllustreerd. Hoewel, een porseleinen Avon kat zou ik niet afslaan… Of een leuke Lalique cicada of zo, haha.

Bijzonder verhaal

ja, dat is natuurlijk het verhaal achter de gele vogel. Want die kocht ik speciaal om te dragen tijdens mijn bruiloft.
Ik zag hem op Twitter voorbijkomen en dacht, dat is hem! Ik verwachtte dat hij al verkocht zou zijn, dus toen ik hem later toch ‘live’ zag liggen in de Broesj kraam kocht ik hem meteen (samen met een roze vogel die ik ook weer niet kon laten liggen natuurlijk. Zucht, ik geef toe dat ik een lichte *ahem* Broesjes-verslaving heb). Ik had niet verteld dat ik ging trouwen en die broche dan zou dragen, dus dat was een dubbele verrassing. Eentje met voorbedachte rade :)

Oh ja en de Sphynx kat broche van MadeByWhite natuurlijk! Die is naar gelijkenis van onze Damien gemaakt. Daarover kun je hier lezen en vooral hier. Zo grappig.

Ik heb vooral vintage en handmade broches. Ik heb ze per groepje gefotografeerd: vintage (links) en buttons (rechts), en handmade (de vilten broches aan 1 kant).
